Firewalls :
Friends, whenever you work on the Internet or download a file from the Internet, you did not get it in the same size, an additional file is attached to it, whose size is up to 2kb. This file contain information about your device i.e your IP address, port number and network ID. This file is very important to secure your computer. The firewall of the operating system present in our computer, which scans this file to find out if that file is there is no virus in the file. If firewall is not installed in your system or firewall protection is not on, then malicious websites present on the internet also stick virus file with this file and whenever you run that file, virus get installed on your which make your system to slow or crash.
Firewall gives us two way protection that means, if you are working on internet then virus present on internet cannot enter in your system and if your system has infected with virus then they cannot enter in internet
Friends, whenever you make a request to any server, a data is gone from your device i.e your device IP address, port number and network ID, to the server and when server reply to your request then the data come from server is also called as packet which contain information of your devices such as IP address, port number and network
Type of Firewalls :
- Hardware Firewalls
- Software Firewalls
1. Hardware Firewalls :
Hardware firewalls are already found in all new routers or modems today, or you can buy it from market and connect it with your router or modem. Due to the Hardware firewalls multiple devices can be protected by firewall For example, if ten computers are connected to a router and the router firewall protection are turned on, then all computers are automatically protected by the firewall.
Whenever your computer is connected with internet then Firewall keeps your computer safe from viruses and malware. Due to the hardware firewall, no virus can pass from one computer to another computer(if they connected through network). Hardware firewalls give us more protection than software firewalls and with this you can protect many devices and enjoy internet without any problem.
2. Software Firewalls :
In new generation operating systems like windows, zorion, ubuntu, sun etc. you get inbuilt firewall protection. Which remain "on" by default. You can turn it off from settings. Software firewall only protects the computer in which it is installed. Whenever your computer is connected to the Internet, the software firewall blocks the unwanted traffic coming from the Internet so that any type of unwanted files or applications should not downloaded in your system.
Friends, software firewall gives us more facility that if you want to install any third party application in your system, then it always gives a pop-up box in which all the data of the application is present so that you can ensure that that software is genuine. Various antivirus software such as Avast, Malwarebyte, 360 security etc. also provide firewall protection.
How antivirus software detect a virus ?
Friends, sometimes it happens that the firewall remains on in our computer, yet viruses or malware enter in our computer, antivirus software is needed to remove all these viruses from our computer, but how this antivirus software, identify that virus or malware in your computer.
Till now many computer viruses, Trojans, worms, ransomwares etc. have been caught and a list of these malicious software has been made using which the antivirus software identifies the virus but this antivirus is not able to identify the new virus because they are not include in that list but now the antivirus software are developed, a new feature has add on these antivirus software. it always keeps monitoring the behavior of the running program, if antivirus software found any defect on a program that it is infected with virus, then it sends a notification and quickly closes that program so that the virus cannot infect other programs, but due to this new update, sometimes the user has to face a lot of problems because there are some programs in which such behavior can be seen and The user is forced to turn off the antivirus protection, due to which the chances of the virus entering are very high.
Conclusion :
Firewall and Antivirus both are very important for our system but firewalls protect our computer from virus and malware coming from the network. It does not prevent viruses that are transmitted by physical wire medium such as removable media. Only antivirus software can detect such virus.
